comments:
Look at Me, Baby
One of many
tunes about
unrequited love
and one of
several written in about
fifteen minutes
while on holiday
outside of Sante
Fe, New Mexico.
Angels with
Elephant Skin
In my work with
Developmentally
Disabled persons
I know people
who have
dedicated their
lives to the
betterment of
others. It is a
difficult job to
say the least
but one with
untold rewards.
In
a case
conference when
I commented that
those who care
for this
population are
angels, someone
cracked, “Yeah,
with elephant
skin.”
Pelican Bar
On a visit to
Jamaica I came
upon Floyd’s
creation. It is
just as the song
suggests.

The Kidnappers
Are After Me
When our son was
eight he took
his first bike
ride with a
friend to the
Rec center to
swim on a hot
summer night.
Upon his return
he was
exasperated by
what he imagined
were kidnappers
after him. As
he excitedly told the
story I strummed
some simple
cords while Lexy
wrote down the
story. Years
later I came
upon them again
and put the
lyrics to music.
Topsy Turvy
Ever wake up and
feel just not
quite right?
Little Vessels
of Gold
Not one that the
Religious Right
would find
endearing.
Churches should
not be wealthy.
Should they?
Together in Love
Written for Lexy
for our eighth
wedding
anniversary.
We’re heading
toward
twenty-five.
Must have done
something right.
Flowers in the
Dark
Written about
thirteen years
ago during a
trip to the
Colorado
mountains.
Walking in the
moonlight, well
you get the
picture.
New Mexican
Night
Inspired by a
trip to a
hacienda outside
of Sante Fe, New
Mexico. The
proprietor’s
wife had died
suddenly before
he finished
their home.
Lost in Blue
Written on the
same New Mexican trip and
very much the same
way as Look at
Me , Baby.
Songbird
Written for my
brother who, in
spite of his
lost soul, has
many gifts.
Don’t Mess with
Marv
Written for
Marvin Heemeyer
who drove a
bulldozer
through the town
of Granby,
Colorado.
Probably not a
good idea to
play this tune
in Grand County.
We’ve Lost Our
Way
A protest song.
Not a lot has
changed since
the sixties.

This work is a
testament to
when the right
ingredients are
mixed one’s
dreams can
become realized
and the dream
takes on a life
of its own. The
result is so
much more than I
ever could have
hoped for. It
truly is a
special moment
when others
become a part of
your dream in a
manner in which
it comes to be
true.
